Patrn Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Patrn's mobile and web application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). "Patrn," "we," "our," and "us" refer to Patrn.

1. Acceptance Of These Terms

By creating an account, accessing the Service, connecting a financial account, or otherwise using Patrn, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use Patrn on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

2. What Patrn Provides

Patrn is a personal finance application that helps users view and understand financial information, including linked accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, spending patterns, savings goals, debt information, and related insights.

Patrn may use Plaid Link to help you connect financial accounts. Patrn does not provide banking, brokerage, lending, payment, credit repair, tax, legal, investment advisory, or financial advisory services.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to use Patrn. You may not use Patrn if you are barred from using the Service under applicable law.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate account information
  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • Maintaining control of the devices and email address used with Patrn
  • Promptly notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access
  • Ensuring your use of Patrn complies with applicable law

Patrn uses Supabase Auth for account authentication. Patrn may require email verification, multi-factor authentication, device unlock, or other security checks before allowing access to Plaid Link or financial data.

We may suspend or terminate access if we believe your account has been compromised, used unlawfully, or used in violation of these Terms.

5. Financial Account Connections

You may choose to connect financial accounts through Plaid Link. By doing so, you authorize Patrn and Plaid to access, process, and transmit information from your selected financial institution accounts for the purposes described in the Service and Privacy Policy.

You represent that:

  • You own or are authorized to access each financial account you connect
  • You have the right to share account information with Patrn through Plaid
  • You will not connect accounts belonging to another person without authorization

Patrn does not receive or store your bank login credentials. Plaid may separately present its own terms, privacy disclosures, and consent screens. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's applicable terms and policies.

6. Consent To Financial Data Processing

Before opening Plaid Link, Patrn may ask you to consent to the collection, processing, and storage of financial account and transaction data. Patrn uses this data to provide linked account views, budgets, spending summaries, transaction analysis, savings goals, debt summaries, and insights.

You can decline to connect an account. If you decline, some features may not work.

You can disconnect a linked account or request deletion of synced financial data from the app. Disconnecting a financial account stops future syncing through Patrn and deletes synced financial rows, subject to backup, audit, legal, security, and fraud-prevention retention described in our Privacy Policy.

7. No Financial, Investment, Tax, Legal, Or Credit Advice

Patrn provides informational tools and insights only. Patrn does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal, accounting, credit, lending, or debt-management advice.

Any budgets, projections, summaries, debt payoff scenarios, spending observations, AI-generated insights, or recommendations shown in Patrn are for informational purposes only. You are responsible for your own financial decisions. Consider consulting a qualified professional before making financial, tax, credit, investment, or legal decisions.

8. Data Accuracy And Availability

Financial data may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, duplicated, miscategorized, or unavailable. Data may depend on your financial institution, Plaid, network conditions, and the timing of syncs.

You are responsible for reviewing information for accuracy before relying on it. Patrn is not responsible for losses or consequences resulting from delayed, inaccurate, unavailable, or incomplete financial data.

9. No Money Movement

Patrn's current Service is designed for financial visibility, budgeting, and insights. Patrn does not currently initiate payments, transfer money, execute trades, open financial accounts, extend credit, or make changes to your financial institution accounts.

If Patrn later offers money movement or regulated financial features, we will provide additional terms and disclosures as required.

10. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use Patrn for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, or abusive purposes
  • Attempt to access another user's account or financial data
  • Connect financial accounts you do not own or lack authority to access
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, copy, or misuse the Service except as allowed by law
  • Interfere with the security, integrity, availability, or performance of Patrn
  • Upload malicious code or attempt unauthorized access to systems
  • Misrepresent your identity or account ownership
  • Use Patrn to violate third-party rights or applicable laws

11. Security Responsibilities

You are responsible for protecting your device, email account, login credentials, and authentication factors. Patrn may provide security features such as secure session storage, multi-factor authentication checks, and device biometric/passcode app lock where available.

You should use a strong password, keep your device software up to date, avoid sharing your login credentials, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how Patrn collects, uses, shares, protects, and deletes information. By using Patrn, you acknowledge that we process information as described in the Privacy Policy.

If these Terms conflict with the Privacy Policy about privacy-specific practices, the Privacy Policy controls for that topic.

13. Third-Party Services

Patrn relies on third-party services, including Plaid, Supabase, hosting providers, app stores, and infrastructure providers. Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.

Patrn is not responsible for third-party services that it does not control. We do not guarantee that any third-party service will be available, accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.

14. Intellectual Property

Patrn and its licensors own the Service, including software, designs, interfaces, logos, text, graphics, code, documentation, and other materials, except for content or data that you provide or that comes from third parties.

Subject to these Terms, Patrn grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial financial management.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted by Patrn or applicable law.

15. Feedback

If you provide ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, you grant Patrn a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.

16. Beta, Sandbox, And Preview Features

Patrn may offer beta, sandbox, preview, or experimental features. These features may be incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or changed at any time. Sandbox data may not reflect real financial account behavior.

You should not rely on beta or preview features for important financial decisions.

17. App Stores

If you download Patrn through an app store, your use may also be subject to that app store's terms. The app store provider is not responsible for Patrn, support, claims, or liabilities related to the Service except as required by applicable law.

18. Fees And Paid Features

Patrn may currently be free or may offer free preview access. If Patrn introduces paid features, subscriptions, trials, or in-app purchases, we will disclose pricing, billing, renewal, and cancellation terms before charging you.

You are responsible for any taxes, carrier charges, internet fees, or other costs associated with accessing the Service.

19. Changes To The Service

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or restrict all or part of the Service at any time. We may add, remove, or change features, supported platforms, integrations, and eligibility requirements.

Where changes materially affect your rights or obligations, we will provide notice when reasonable.

20. Termination

You may stop using Patrn at any time. You may disconnect financial accounts or request deletion of financial data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • We suspect fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, or security risk
  • We are required to do so by law or third-party service rules
  • Continuing to provide access would create legal, security, operational, or reputational risk

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, dispute resolution, and terms related to data retained for legal, security, or audit purposes.

21. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Patrn disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability.

Patrn does not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Financial data will be accurate, complete, current, or available
  • Insights, budgets, projections, or categorizations will be correct
  • The Service will meet your financial goals or expectations
  • Third-party services will remain available or compatible

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of these disclaimers may not apply to you.

22. Limitation Of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Patrn and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, financial losses, or damages arising from financial decisions made using the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Patrn's total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount you paid Patrn for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose
  • USD $100

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some limitations may not apply to you.

23. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Patrn and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of law or third-party rights
  • Your unauthorized connection or use of a financial account
  • Content, information, or instructions you provide to Patrn

24. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless applicable consumer protection law requires otherwise.

25. Dispute Resolution

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at admin@patrn.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will try to resolve the dispute in good faith.

26. Changes To These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the app, website, email, or another reasonable method. Updated Terms become effective when posted or as otherwise stated in the notice.

Your continued use of Patrn after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
